The VRTI Goes to Kilkenny

On Tuesday 25 November, 2025, Kilkenny County Council Library Service hosted the Virtual Treasury Roadshow with a special addition: the launch of Professor Keith Busby’s new publication — The Statute of Kilkenny — published by the Irish Manuscripts Commission.

The roadshow was fully booked and took place at 6:45pm in Mayfair Library, Kilkenny. After an introduction from County Librarian Josephine Coyne, the audience heard from:

  • Alicia Dunphy – Library Staff Officer, Local Studies, Kilkenny County Council Library Service
  • Ciarán Wallace – Deputy Director, Virtual Record Treasury of Ireland: Ireland’s public records: destruction and recovery
  • Lynn Kilgallon – Virtual Record Treasury Research Fellow: Medieval Kilkenny records in the Virtual Record Treasury of Ireland
  • Brian Gurrin – Virtual Record Treasury Research Fellow: Kilkenny Census Records in the Virtual Record Treasury of Ireland

The launch of The Statute of Kilkenny, edited by Professor Keith Busby and published by the Irish Manuscripts Commission, took place after the Roadshow, and featured short remarks by Professor John McCafferty (Chair of IMC), and an introduction by Dr Peter Crooks (Co-Director of VRTI, IMC Commissioner).
